In the Sun King’s Shadow

Historic Monument

A village, a lineage, a reconstructed memory.

A listed residence, its façades and roofs protected, the château bears the imprint of centuries. Born of a fortified core, remodelled in the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries and restored in the nineteenth, it overlooks the Savière valley like a motionless sentinel.

It is here that the story of the Le Prévost du Barail takes root — former lords of the place, companions to the Orléans, and quiet witnesses to the intrigues of the Grand Siècle.
